If you are applying for funding for the first time, or are returning
to higher education after a break in study of a year or more,
you can use this calculator.
What the calculator works out
An estimate of the amount of funding you can get.
The calculator does not carry out all the checks and calculations we do when we recieve
your application. When you apply, we will work out the full amount you can get depending
on your personal circumstances.
The calculator can only work out the main support that you may be entitled to,
for example tuition fees, bursary and the student loan. It does not work out the
amount of Additional loan or supplementary grants.
Who should not use this calculator
You should not use the calculator if you entered higher education before the
academic session 2006-2007 and are on a continuous programme of study,
or you are doing one of the following:
a postgraduate diploma course (not including PGDE and PGDipCE);
a course that leads to professional registration in one of the Allied Health Professions (AHP's);
fifth year of a medicine or dentistry course;
a diploma or degree in nursing or midwifery;
studying part-time
Other types of support
Some types of support (supplementary grants) are not covered by the calculator,
including allowances for disabled students, travel costs, grants for lone parents and for childcare.
This is because we need more information before we can calculate the amount of money you can get.
More information
You can get more information on the support you can get and the supplementary
grants we can pay in our 'student support' section.
